When you are energetically aligned with your authentic self, being congruent is natural and almost automatic. The most challenging part of being congruent is therefore the work that you do to align and maintain your alignment with your authentic self. Recognising when you are out of alignment with your authentic self and knowing how to bring yourself back into alignment are the most crucial steps to becoming congruent. 

Recognising when you are out of alignment with your authentic self

Recognising when you are out of alignment with your authentic self requires you to develop a deeper awareness of your emotional patterns, triggers, beliefs and behaviour. When you are out of alignment with your authentic self, you can guarantee that you have been triggered emotionally by some external person, situation or circumstance.

When someone’s behaviour triggers an emotional pain response inside of you, you have to be willing to look at yourself on a deeper than surface level. You have to allow yourself the time and space to explore why you are being triggered and what is coming up for you on a mental and emotional level. It is also important to keep in mind that when you are being triggered emotionally, that you have been given the perfect opportunity to deepen your connection with your authentic self. As unbearable as the emotional pain can be, it is often a sign that you are holding onto an outdated belief, story or emotional pattern that is no longer serving you on your journey. It is an initiation into the next level of your mental, emotional and spiritual growth.
